Consalt was built by a recruiter we loved the grind. After working across agency, in-house, and marketplace hiring, one thing became clear: the problem isn’t a lack of candidates, it’s a lack of signal.


Too many CVs. Not enough alignment. Too many hires that don’t work.


So we built Consalt differently.


We partner with founders, CTOs, and hiring managers to build high-impact tech teams across engineering, product, data, and design.

Our focus is on the part of the market most recruiters can’t reach. We headhunt passive, high-impact engineers and technical talent, people already building and scaling some of the world’s most ambitious products, not actively applying for jobs. That’s where the real leverage is.

2014

From Hospitality to Headhunting

After finishing matric, our founder traded textbooks for long hospitality shifts, working to pay off a BSc in Human Life Sciences at Stellenbosch University. That hustle led to a first full-time job in trading, but the real turning point came in 2014, when a leap into financial recruiting revealed a passion for matching talent with opportunity.

2017

The Tech Recruitment Pivot

A year later, the startup world came calling. At OfferZen, a fast-growing tech platform, our founder helped 300+ people land jobs in under two years—proving that speed and care weren’t mutually exclusive. Then came Luno, where scaling Engineering, Design, Product, and Data teams sharpened an eye for unicorn talent.

2019

But the real test? Being the sole in-house recruiter at Aerobotics, a drone-tech startup. No team, no safety net—just one person owning hiring, culture-fit, and onboarding for a high-growth company.



2020

Why Consalt Exists

By 2020, the flaws in traditional recruiting were impossible to ignore. Too many agencies spammed resumes instead of solving problems. Too many hires looked good on paper but failed in practice. So Consalt launched with one mission:


"Recruit like the founder who’s been in the trenches."


2026

Since then, we’ve made history at 25+ companies, because we don’t just fill roles. We find the 10% who move the needle. This year we are on the hunt for new companies to deploy our hiring strategy.

We began by exclusively supporting startups to fill urgent team gaps and build teams for new product launches or greenfield projects.


While continuing to serve startups, we've expanded to include SMEs, applying our proven process across diverse industries to place top talent in growing companies.

In 2014 I discovered my obsession for matching talent with opportunities. In 2015 I went all-in on tech recruiting at OfferZen, placing 300+ candidates in under 2 years as an early team member.


After this I proved I could:

• Scale teams at Luno (Engineering, Product, Data)

• Build from zero as Aerobotics' solo recruiter

In 2020 I had enough of broken hiring practices so I launched Consalt to fix what's wrong with recruitment because I've lived every side of it.
